And, we're off!

T minus....0 days?!  How did that come so fast?!  We've been super busy the past...well....few months, but especially the past week.  Packing, unpacking, repacking, washing clothes, starting all over again....  But, the time has finally come.  We depart for our world adventure today, and we have no return tickets.  Exciting?  Yes!  Scary?  Maybe a bit!  Crazy?  You bet!  Happy because we're living our dream?  Definitely!  

Our itinerary has changed since the first time I posted on this blog, and I'm sure it'll change again before the end of our trip.  What we know for sure: we will be travelling to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (with stops in Washington, D.C. and Doha, Qatar) with Guillaume's sister, Catherine, and her boyfriend, Marc.  We'll be staying with their cousin, Shannon, and her husband, Mike, who currently live in KL.  Together, the six of us will travel to Indonesia.  Mike and Shannon will return to KL, and the four of us will head over to Bali (I know, rough, eh?!).  We'll travel back to KL, say our goodbyes to Catherine and Marc, and continue our stay in Malaysia.  In February, we'll head on up to Vietnam for a few weeks.  At the end of the month, we'll fly to Nepal for a month to hike the Annapurna Mountain Circuit.  

What we hope to do next: After our big hike in Nepal (granted I survive that crazy hike with little hiking experience), we'll head to India for about 2 1/2 months.  Then, we'll fly to Italy for 2-4 weeks where we'll meet up with two couple friends from New Brunswick.  Our tentative return to Canada: mid-July 2012 (or when our money runs out...hopefully not the latter!).  

Round 1 of packing for me.... 

After Round 2 of packing.... 3 pairs of pants, 4 t-shirts, 2 long sleeve shirts, 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of sandals, 1 pair of hiking boots, 1 towel, 1 sleeping bag, 1 dress, a few pairs of undergarments, 1 rain jacket, 1 fleece jacket, 1 scarf, 1 bandana, 1 toiletry kit (with too much in it!), plus a few more misc. items.  Not bad, eh?!  I also repacked later...taking a few items out to lighten the load.
