IOWA...home to US President Herbert Hoover, Tom Arnold, Johnny Carson, Buffalo Bill Cody, Ashton Kutcher, Glenn Miller, John Wayne, Andy Williams, Elijah Wood, and most importantly, our dear friends, Grant and Whitney!
After our short visit to Kansas and Missouri, our next big stop was Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to visit a longtime friend, Whitney, and her husband, Grant, for one week. I met Whitney at Bible Camp when we were in elementary school, and we've been great friends since then. We were so excited to finally spend some quality time with them at their home. Luckily, Whitney had a week-long Thanksgiving vacation from teaching, and Grant only had to work the first few days of our visit.

I think we should dedicate a blog to all the wonderful dogs we've met along the way. We immediately fell in love with Gordon, Grant's hunting dog! We can't wait to have a dog of our own one day...hopefully sooner rather than later!

Guillaume and I were able to accompany one of Cedar Rapids' finest on a ride-along. From routine traffic stops to arrests to a traffic accident and more, Guillaume was very busy on Saturday, as was I on Sunday. Good thing I already have my heart set on pursuing the social work profession...otherwise, becoming a cop would be up there on my dream list of professions! :) Thanks again, Grant, we had SO much fun!!!

| I don't think Whitney and I stopped talking the whole time we were together. SO much fun!!! |
 |
Off to play hockey...Guillaume's day couldn't have gotten any better.

Male bonding at it's best! Pheasant hunting and hitting golf balls in the morning, car repair shop in the afternoon, hockey in the evening, followed by sushi and milk shakes for supper. They had a great day together!

Sister! Sister!

| Guillaume and I were so happy to spend the American Thanksgiving with Grant and Whitney. One of Whitney's friends, Kristin, also joined us! We had SO much fun cooking together. Preparing such a big meal sure goes quickly with three women in the kitchen. |
 |
Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, veggies, cranberries, and biscuits...you can't get much better than that!! After the big clean-up (thanks guys!), we all went to Grant's parents house for dessert. Thanks, again, Rasmussen's!

| Lucky Grant...got the wishbone! |
Stay tuned for our next blog featuring our surprise trip to Chicago with Grant and Whit!
